Recent Empties..

Hello, lovelies :)

Thought I'd show you some of the products I've used up lately..

MAC Pro-longwear in NW20

I LOVE this, I think it's my favourite foundation ever, ever, ever! When this ran out I was so sad, I repurchased it :)
The foundation lasts for ever on your skin - until you take it off essentially.
It's medium-full coverage, and a satin-y matte finish.
I don't need to powder this to set it, it lasts anyway.
It also comes with a pump, so a cleaner application.
Down side is when I compared my empty bottle with the new one, this stuff has definitely oxidised a bit - the old one looked darker. So, over a 5-6 month period, this one does darken - just a word of warning.

Liz Earle Skin Repair moisturiser for Dry/sensitive skin

I was sad to see this run out - I loves a bit of Liz Earle, I do.
I generally used this at night after cleansing and toning with the Liz Earle bits, and I feel like it did make a good improvement on my skin.
I love the smell, it's so herbally.
I will repurchase, just when I've used up all my other thousands of moisturisers I seem to have accumulated.

ASDA Nail polish remover

I love using pre-soaked cotton pads, as I tend to spill the bottles - just me? I am tres clumsy :/
These are great - cheap, effective and don't leave your fingers stinking of nail polish remover all day.
WIll definitely repurchase.

Aussie Ausome volume shampoo

Shampoo with beer Hops in - need I say more?
It makes my hair bouncy and smells incredible - I don't need to repurchase because I stock-piled last time they were on offer in Superdrug. Mwahaha.

Link me to any of your empties posts, love reading them :)

Wedgey wonder..

Hello, lovelies :)

Thought I'd show you my new shoes - which cost me a bargains £12 from Primark.

They're so comfortable & look more expensive than they were, I think..

I'm planning on wearing these on my Birthday (on Monday, yaaaay) and I think Wedges are much easier to wear/dance/stagger around in ;)

What do you think?

I'm loving heels at the moment, so link me to any posts :)

Tuesday's shopping the stash #7

Hello :)

I rooted around in my 'face' section of my storage and found this week's victim - the Collection (2000) lasting perfection foundation.

Now everyone (rightfully) raves about the concealer, but I hadn't heard as much about the matching foundation.

It's a medium erring on the side of full coverage foundation, and dries to a satin finish.

I'm a fan - I find it's easy to blend and gives me a nice coverage.

It claims to last 16 hours, which I don't think it does... It definitely lasts a while, but not 16 hours. I'd say 8-10 with a dusting of powder, which is still pretty good I think :)

Comes in a frosted glass bottle - makes it feel fancier than the price would suggest.

It retails for around £5, which I think is awesome :)

Go buy it!

NOTD: Model's Own Hedonist.

Hello, lovelies :)

I thought I'd post a sunny little number on such a rainy day...
This baby is from the new Model's own Hedkandi collection, and is inspired by Ibitha - ergo, bright colours ahoy!

I was initially attracted by the BRIGHT colour, and then the name sold it. Haha, Hedonist is such a good name for this colour! Well done, Model's own. Well done.

This is actually my first Model's own polish... I'd heard such good things about them but never actually tried. Clearly I've been missing out!

Bad light to try and get a better colour representation

This shade is literally INSANELY bright. Almost neon. It's distracting! I love it, but it is very in yer face ;)

I definitely don't have any dupes in my collection.

The shade was so hard to capture on camera! It looks less orange in real life, and more corally.. The brightness is getting picked up though.

The application was awesome, completely opaque in 2 coats, although it did dry to a fairly matte finish - I used a topcoat, but I always do.

Any of you checked out the Hedkandi collection?

Magic in a pot... Illamasqua's Beguile

Hello, lovelies :)

This is an item that i'd been lusting after for a while (majorly enable by Louise's post here) and I finally got it yesterday..

It's just SO BEAUTIFUL!

(Enlarge the picture to see the sexy sparkles)

It's a finely milled powder, which you can use on the eyes, face, lips... Illamasqua is all about experimenting and going crazy, so whatever you feel like really ;)

Blurry to show the colour of the sparkles - green, pink, blue, white... mmm...

Beguile is available now here and is 1.3g of product for £15.50, which I think makes it a pretty luxurious little item... worth it though! It makes me happy just to look at, it's just so amazing :D

I've used it as an eyeshadow so far, and it really catches the light but in a subtle way - not disco ball glitter in yer face, but an eye-catching loveliness.

Have Static on my list next, a more pinky/purpley one ;)

Any of you tried Illamasqua pigments?

A MAC Mythology dupe?

Hello :)

I was sporting my favourite eye combo of the moment - MAC's Mythology, Sable and Folie all blended together (inspired by this post!) and I decided to have a rootle around my Sleek palette collection to see if I could find any dupes... Think I did :)

MAC's Mythology... in my precious, I mean palette.

Sleek's Original palette, bottom row, third from the right :)

In the pan they don't look especially similar, but swatched I think they do..

L-R MAC, Sleek

I think they look pretty similar! If anything the sleek colour is more pigmented than MAC.

Like most sleek shadows, it's soft and easy to blend :)

A MAC shadow is £12 (sneaky price increases!!), whereas for £6.49 at Sleek you get a lovely palette of 12 colour.... hmm.

What do you think?

Montagne Jeunesse Skin HEROES

Hello, lovelies :)

I was contacted by Montagne Jeunesse last week asking if I wanted to review some of their new face masks, and I was excited, as Montagne Jeunesse are a brand I've used and liked in the past.

They have a new range of 5 super masks to deal with problem skins with a two stage treatment - seems legit, non?

The range has

1) De-clog nose strips
2) Break out mask
3) T-zone peel off mask
4) Dry Skin mask
4) Shine control

The first ones I tried were the T-zone peel off and the De-clog pore strips :)

The website says for the T-Zone peel off:

"Stage 1
Firstly, get into the zone with this peel-off. Calming Tea Tree & soothing Canadian Willowherb™ will grab dirt & help clear impurities. Witch Hazel helps target problem areas.
Stage 2
Secondly, soothe skin with this follow on moisturiser & help ease those bothersome bits with the natural healing of Canadian Willowherb™ & Tea Tree to help calm skin to the core."

It has the ingredients listed clearly on the packet, and they have a lot of natural - tee tree oil  (which I LOVE and use to clean my piercings), Witch hazel, peppermint oil... sounds loverly.
The masks are also vegetarian friendly :D
I have it on my face as I type this, so that I would remember everything, aha :)

It's a peel-off make, which is my favourite - they're so fun!
It smells like Tea Tree (... well done, Laura) and minty, which I like. It's definitely a 'fresh' smell, and not overly sweet or anything.
I put it on all over my face, as although the packet says it's a T-zone mask, there was a LOT of product in the sachet and the website says to put it all over le face... slightly confused.
It feels tingly when you put it on, a bit like Natural Sources minty shower gel, which I like. It definitely feels like the mask is doing something, which I imagine is why one would use a face
mask...
It's colour-less, but it makes your face look crazily shiny... reminded me of American Pyscho...

As it's dried, my face does feel really stiff and tight, and it's hard to show any facial expression... a cheap, temporary alternative to Botox, maybe? Haha :)

*pause while I wash it off and apply the moisturiser it comes with*

I like the tingly-ness of the mask, but the moisturiser was equally tingly and I would have preferred something slightly more soothing? The tingly-ness doesn't last for too long though.

De-clog pore strips

"These ultra-deep cleansing nose pore strips contain natural citrus to draw out deep-rooted impurities for cleaner, less visible pores on and around the nose."

These are like standard nose strips - you wet your nose and apply the strip and leave it around 15 minutes to dry. This one smells much nicer than other ones though, very citrusy and fruity. Yum.
They do hurt when you pull them off - my eyes were watering a fair bit - but you can see that they work... gross, but good to see they work!
You get three in a pack so they work out at around 50p each, which is pretty good, me thinks.

The Skin Hero masks are available now, online here (free delivery for orders over £7!) & in ASDA stores for a pereettty reasonable £1.49

Have any of you tried Montagne Jeunesse masks before?

Tuesday's shopping the stash #6

Hello :D

Hope you're all well, lovelies..

Today's 'stash' is MAC's crosswire, a beautiful blue-toned medium pink, in ze creme sheen formula (my favourite)

It's really wearable for in the day, and is the standard creamy loveliness of a creme sheen :)

I wear it on its own or with my favourite gloss - Urban decay lip junkie (post coming soon!)

I love this shade and actually just bought one for a gift for my Grandmama, as she has complimented me on it before.

If you're looking for a medium pink in MAC, definitely check out this bad boy!

Shown with gloss - see how shiny :D

Rest of muh face!

MAC Prolongwear in NW20 - RIP, you are on your last legs and I love you ;( I even think you might be the one!

Eyes

MAC Mythology/sable/folie blended all together in a lovely little mix

Illamasqua's K-K-Katie

Hello, lovelies :)

Hope you're all well - I'm back at Uni now... today I actually -shock horror- did some work!
It's all essays and revision at the moment in a bit of a mad blur, but I'll still have time to blog! (Fingers crossed)

Anyway, over Easter weekend Illamasqua had a 50% off jobby, on eyeshadow/nail varnish/blusher...
An Illamasqua blusher for £8.50? Rude not to ;)

I only picked up one thing (hello, restraint!), the popular blusher, Katie :)

A comparison to MAC's Well Dressed - Katie is paler & cooler toned than Well Dressed. Katie is more pigmented fer sure.

Loving this bad boy!

(A rare) OOTD & FOTD

Hello, lovelies :)

I never do style posts, so thought I'd give you a little insight into a typical Laura outfit ;)

Check out my car, Max, behind me :D

Top - Toppers
Scarf - Primark (current stock, and a steal at £3 ;))
Skirt - Toppers
Bag -Vintage, dahling! (Charity shop)

I love casual, slouchy tops - I'm not a tres groomed girly, so stuff I can chuck on without ironing is a win in my books. It's also quite long, as I have a longlonglong torso and short legs... curse you, body!

I also love my bag so much - it cost £4 from a Charity shop, it's real leather, and after I cleaned it up I think it looks pretty noice. I recommend checking out the bags next time you're in a charity shop/car boot sale - you can find some cheeky bargains.

Eyes - An oldie but a goodie - MAC Woodwinked
Lips - MAC Hibiscus
Face - Bourjois 123 perfect/Nars Laguna/MAC Well Dressed

Let me know if you want more style posts, thinking about making it a regular thang?

NOTD - A perfect pastel..

Hello :)

Today's NOTD is one of my absolute favourite polishes - OPI's Planks a lot.
My favourite shades of polish to wear are definitely purple/blue, and especially pastels in Spring.
This one came out with the Pirates collection last Spring - LOVE the entire collection - and so I think this lilac shade is awesome for Spring and Summer.

I ventured outside to take pictures... nail varnish looks really good on grass, I think? Haha

It's a creamy, almost grey toned purple. It's a little bit more murky than a standard lilac cream, which makes it quite unusual I think.

In some lights this colour looks quite cool-toned and murky, and in bright sunlight it looks almost neon - another polish chameleon ;)

Tuesday's Shopping the Stash #5

Hello, lovelies!

I hope you all had a great Easter :)

Today's 'Stash' is one of my favourite lipsticks - Chanel Mademoiselle.. My Mum got me this ageeeees ago, 2 years ish I think, and it's still going strong - & I went through a phase of wearing this everyday last year.

I just love the Chanel packaging - I feel pretty classy whacking this bad boy out ;)
I love Chanel products in general, particularly their nail polish, lovelovelove.

They pay awesome attention to detail - chanel lettering on the lipstick <3

The colour itself is beautiful - a brickish coral. It looks great and summery but it looks dark enough for winter too - cost effective? Haha...

It's pigmented, non-drying, a satin finish and lasts on the lips for ages - at least 4 hours. Chanel quality, you scamp.

I want to try one of the shiny/glossy Chanel ones, any recommendations?

Benefit presents :)

Hello, lovelies :)

So a couple of weeks ago I won loads of Benefit goodies from the lovely Aimee (love her blog, recommend checking it out)

Just thought I'd show you all... everyone loves a bit of Benefit, non?

Aimee was lovely enough to send me three Benefit products:

A Bad Gal eyeliner - This is one of my favourite eyeliners ever, so amazing for a smokey eye & so I was tres happy to have a replacement... my old one is essentially a (well loved) nub.
Ooh la lift - I hadn't seen much about this product before, but it gives me a lovely eye 'glow'... Kardashian-esque I think.
Hoola - I was most excited about this, I've been wanting to try it for ageeeeeessssssss and I'm so grateful to Aimee for sending it to me <3 It's a dream to contour with, as it's a non-orange matte shade... love it!

So, a massive thank you to Aimee! I never normally win anything, and this really made me smile :)

Re-Ombred hair!

Hello, lovelies :)

Thought I'd show you my re-dyed hair - blonder for summer.. I was also thinking about getting some pastel dye (pastel purple hair dye... does it exist?)

I brought the blonde up higher this time, I really like it :)

I did it myself at home with a Jerome Russel bleaching kit and just applied the bleach with my hands (and gloves, obvs) and then wrapped in tin foil and around an hour later...voila!

Awash in a sea of Beauty box goodies.

Hello :)

I got home from University for Easter and found 2 beauty boxes waiting for me to tip the contents on to my bed and roll around cackling on a general beauty high... normal stuff.

First up is the Glossybox Harrods box...

In my box I received

1) Valentino perfume
2) Molton Brown bath and shower gel
3) SKII skin signature moisturiser
4) Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara
5) Clarins extra firming body cream
6) Shu Uemura cleansing beauty oil.

I was tres impressed with this box! It felt very luxurious and Glossybox definitely got the right 'Harrods' element to it. I liked the white box it came in, but I especially liked the Harrods ribbon!
The perfume smells fairly nice, not one I'd have chosen but still nice enough. I LOVE the smell of the Molton Brown gel, it smells lush! Molton Brown is definitely a brand I'd consider luxury, so yay. The moisturiser is amazing! It makes my skin so soft, been loving using this this week. You get a generous 15ml, which is a pretty good sample. The mascara seems good, if a little flakey. The clarions body cream is nice, but as I'm only 18 I don't really need a firming cream just yet... I've yet to use the oil, but you only get a sachet, so I can't imagine I'll get a particularly good feel of the product.

Next up is the March Jolie Box ...

In my box I received

1) Yardley Body wash in peony
2) Davines moisturising balm
3) Eyeko skinny eyeliner
4) LCN nail varnish
5) Joliebox mirror

These are all full size products, which is exciting. The Yardley body wash smells so lovely, and Yardley is a brand I'd heard of but never tried before. The moisturising balm is quite interesting, I didn't quite understand it at first. It's sort of a cleanser, but you can also use it as conditioner? Smells good though, a bit like roses. Another Eyeko skinny eyeliner? I received one in blue in my Valentine's Glossybox, so wasn't too excited to see this in the box. I prefer the colour though, and the eyeliners are fairly pigmented. The nail varnish is really cute, a silvery sparkly pale blue, don't have many similar colours. Great for Spring, keep an eye out for an upcoming NOTD :) The mirror seems alright, if a little flimsy, but a girl can never have too many mirrors to throw in a makeup bag...

I was also tres tres tres excited to see the editor of the new Joliemag - my all-time favourite blogger, Anna
