Welcome to Lipstick Week, where I’ll be talking about my favourite subject all week – lipsticks! I’m kicking things off with some summery strawberry red lipstick picks. It’s one of my favourite shades to wear because the shade is so much fun and it complements any makeup look. It’s such a nice shade to wear, on any skin tone.
Starting off with a classic – Mac Ruby Woo. It’s definitely one of Mac’s most iconic lipsticks and for good reason. It’s a very, very matte finish that leaves a powdery statement lip with serious staying power. It definitely gives off vintage vibes in its tones, and I absolutely love wearing it pared with lots of black liner. It’s such a lovely blue-toned red that you can notice anyone wearing – instantly recognisable when people are wearing it. I think this staple from Mac deserves a spot in every lipstick lover’s collection.
For something with some more pink in it, leaning stronger towards a strawberry lip, there is the Lipstick Queen Red Sinner. The formula on Lipstick Queen’s sinner lipsticks is one of the best around as it’s so creamy, pigmented and yet matte. Lovely stuff. It has 90% pigment in the lipstick, and the formula stays put as a beautifully bold pinky red all day.
If ~matte~ lipstick puts you off, then the Zelens extreme velvet lipstick in Red is going to be the one for you. It leaves a gorgeous velvet and soft finish on the lips but the formula is long-wearing. It’s not drying or uncomfortable in the slightest, and it has the added benefit of skincare ingredients (coming from a skincare line!) so it nourishes your lips whilst you wear it. The shade itself is rich, saturated and pretty much perfect as a red lip.
The liquid lip
Lastly we have the Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick in Outlaw. I had to include a liquid lipstick, right? I’ve spoken about how much I love the formula on Kat Von D many times, but know that it’s truly one of the best on the market. This shade is bright and gives me Snow White vibes which is basically all you want from a red lipstick.
