Hands up who else gets sore and sensitive skin? My skin can get irritated after things like hot water, too much exfoliating, a glass of wine… I’ve been turning to La Roche Posay Toleriane ultra nuit overnight; a super-soothing skin concoction for sensitive skin. I’ve been using it for a year, and just started on a new tube, so it was time to check in with my sensitive skin saviour.
What makes it so good for sensitive skin?
The formula is based around thermal spring water which is designed to flood the skin with moisture and alleviate any irritation. I know that people go to the baths where the spring water is in France as it’s so soothing on the skin. Other ingredients include niacinimide, carnosine and vitamin A which all work together to help improve the skin’s barrier function – the ultimate key to eradicating sensitive skin is to improve barrier function on the skin. This moisturiser is clever in that it does encourage skin to repair itself so eventually skin is less sensitive.
Who’s it for?
I imagine this would be a complete saviour for anyone who struggles with sensitive skin; whether it’s daily or with an occasional flareup. I think it would also work nicely across quite a variety of skin types as it’s hydrating but not greasy so it’s a decent all-rounder.
What does it work well with?
I find this moisturiser layers really well on top of heavier serums. The whole thing layers together nicely and leaves the skin smooth come morning. I particularly like The Ordinary hyaluronic acid at night or the Clinique moisture surge serum underneath. I’m also currently testing out the daytime version and am pleased with how my skin is feeling happier.
