The New Nude from Guerlain

There are lipsticks, and then are serious old-school glamorous lipsticks designed to make you as glamorous as possible. The new Guerlain KissKiss Velvet Matte Lip Colour is definitely one of those, with its luxurious packaging, dreamy formula and the glamorous shades.

The new formula from Guerlain is matte yet hydrating – it’s definitely not drying in the slightest. It’s designed to hydrate and plump the lips, with a balm-like formula. It has hyaluronic acid in it, and plenty of oils to leave the lips soft – it also has chilli to give the lips a slight boost (it doesn’t tingle). Formula wise, it’s very easy and comfortable to wear – no drying at all, and with the pigment being saturated enough to give the lips a wash of colour. I’d say that it isn’t matte in the traditional sense – this is far more of a modern matte and would be more comparable to a satin finish with plenty of moisture. Not creamy and slippy, but not heavy in the slightest. Guerlain describes the formula as a photoshop effect for the lips in that it perfects without masking. I went for the shade Caliente Beige, which is a rosy nude shade. I’m fully in the midst of a nude-lip obsession so this shade seemed like an obvious choice. It’s not dissimilar to my natural lip colour, so it’s a great one to wear with my Naked heat palette (post here) to wear without washing out my complexion.

The packaging is worth mentioning, too – it’s pretty dreamy and is definitely one of my favourite lipstick designs ever! It’s a matte gold and feels pleasingly weighty – definitely one of those lipsticks you enjoy reapplying as it’s so luxurious.
