The Mascara Files

I’m back with another instalment of the mascara files, talking about two new budget discoveries from L’oreal and Maybelline. You can see part one of my quest for the perfect mascara here and I might just be two steps closer with these new discoveries. Quick recap – I like my mascara to have a false lash effect, hold a curl all day and not be a nightmare to remove come bedtime.

L'oreal Paradise mascara review

L’oreal Paradise Mascara

So the Paradise mascara has had a lot of hype already, and was actually pretty hard to get hold of! I did though, and straight away had to agree that this mascara looks like a Too faced dupe. It comes in a cardboard sleeve and just looks really similar (except it comes with rose gold packaging) including the wand. Having tried this, it’s very similar to the better than sex mascara with a slightly drier formula – it’s one of the most dramatic mascaras for under £10 I’ve tried, and it definitely does rival a few luxury favourites. The formula lengthens lashes and adds plenty of drama and volume and the wand isn’t too big so that I end with it on my lids.

Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara

This post might be overtly glowing because the Colossal Big Shot mascara is another one I’ve been loving and enjoying – It’s one its way out as I’ve been devoutly using it daily for the past six weeks. I tend to get on well with Maybelline mascaras, but I was especially pleased with this one as I find it does a great job at adding drama to the lashes. Application wise, I tend to go for one coat of mascara in the morning because I can’t be alone in thinking the perfect mascara application takes such a long time? I like this one because it gives intense volume and it leaves lashes soft and fluttery as well as not smudging (even with the current hayfever situation).

Have you tried any good mascaras lately?
