Autumn Skincare Edit

Can we officially embrace Autumn now? Yes? OK. It’s time to pack away summer clothes (yay!) and get ready for the return of pumpkin spice lattes. Most importantly (says the beauty blogger) is that it’s time to switch up skincare. I’ve swept aside the lighter formulas that aim to give glow; instead I’m reaching for nourishing and hydrating products to leave my skin happy.

Add in all the oils

Mix in a drop with your morning moisturiser. Use a tiny amount and mix in with your foundation. Oils make such a difference to how hydrated skin is. It’s the best barrier for keeping skin supple and a good oil makes all the difference to your skin. I really like the rosehip oil from The Ordinary and this one from Pai. I love all the oils to banish dry skin, so I use shower oil, body oil, hair oil… Just really go for it. Basically, i am into the aesthetic of going to bed looking all greasy and waking up like a silky-soft unicorn.

Make time for masks

I think face masks are an important step in a skincare routine at any time, but especially with the changing of the seasons. Skin can look a little lacklustre, which is where a good face mask comes in. I absolutely love the Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask; not only does it smell amazing (like pumpkin pie) but it’s so perfect for Autumn. It’s really exfoliating and brightening – it does tingle on the skin, so not one for anyone too sensitive. It does leave skin looking so much brighter and more radiant after just one application. For when skin needs a big hit of moisture, the ARK hydration injection masque is one of the best I’ve tried (along with the Clarins here). It’s so buttery in texture that it pretty much instantly makes skin feel much happier. I like sleeping in this one, too, and using it as an overnight treatment to make skin softer come morning.

Amp up the moisture

It’s time to bring out the big guns when it comes to prepping skin for Autumn! My skin errs on the dry side at the best of times, but especially when the air starts to chill. I’m reaching for serums geared towards hydration – I have favourites from Clinique, Antipodes and Clarins. If anyone has any amazing hydrating serums, let me know though! I’ve dug out the Zelens marine complex moisturiser which is like a big fluffy jumper for the skin. I hate the feeling of your skin being tight and dry so I’m taking preventative steps now to make sure any dryness is banished all Autumn long.
