October’s Makeup Menu

Are monthly roundups interesting when my makeup is obsessively repetitive? I’m hoping so, because I’m sharing October’s makeup menu and it’s featuring a lot of old favourites. Although if products are good, and work well, then there’s not a lot I can do! My makeup picks include glittery eyes, plenty of foundation, loads of highlighter and a nude lipstick of dreams…

Base wise I took The Ordinary coverage foundation to Venice because it’s so small and compact, so perfect for travel. I rediscovered how lovely it is on the skin! It’s utterly blendable, as in you can use a tiny amount for a more natural finish on the skin or layer it up. I like a… healthy amount of foundation, and this one never looks cakey. I love the Kevyn Aucoin contour powder always, and then a dab of the Glossier cloud paint in Beam with loads and loads of the Urban Decay highlighter in Sin dusted all over the skin.

This will come as no surprise to anyone, but… I’m still very much in love with the Stila glitters. The current obsession is Bronzed Bell, which I have been wearing a lot. It’s so good! I like to take some of bronzer or contour powder and sweep that all over the lid as a base before I go in with the glitter. With that, the Clarins liner is good for adding a tiny little flick right at the corner of my eyes. Finishing things off with the new Urban Decay mascara, which will not be for everyone! It’s quite dry in formula, so it’s not the easiest thing to load up your lashes with. It doesn’t smudge much though, and the colour is inky black. Overall, it’s not especially dramatic on the eyes, but it’s a good one for adding some length.

Lipstick wise, I do find it hard to go too long without using Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk; it’s one of the best nude lipsticks ever. I find that it suits any and every makeup look without ever being too much. It’s perfect.
