Christmas Party Makeup Picks

Party season is upon us. The time of secret Santa, boozy evenings out and lots of red lipstick… The most magical time of the year. I’ve got a Christmas party next week, and the best bit of any night out always has to be the makeup. It gets even better during party season, because you can pile on all of the glitz and the glam with reckless abandon. I tend to wear heavy perfumes, red lipstick and glitter all year round, but it’s pretty much a daily basis come December. I’m sharing my Christmas Party Makeup Picks today, for any evening inspiration you might need…

Obviously there’s got to be as much sparkle as possible. There’s the full-blown glamour route involving glitter all over the face, and then the little accents on the eyes with the Stila magnificent metals shadows (yup, talking about them again). On the cheeks, it has to be a highlighter combination involving the Iconic drops topped with a powder highlighter like the Marylou Manizer. Highlighter always looks good in photos, right?

For a night out out, I tend to go either for a smokey eye using something like the Charlotte Tilbury jumbo pencil scribbled all around the eyes and blended out or a statement lip. Or both, if I’m feeling particularly sassy (or if I’ve been watching drag race as I get ready). My red lip favourites tend to be either liquid or a matte lip like ruby woo. I have a post coming on some fab red lipsticks next week, so stay tuned for that!

Other party makeup picks would be a long-wear foundation (like the Dior Forever) that can withstand some dancing, and a setting spray to lock everything into place. It’s the perfect excuse to glue on some lashes and sashay onto the dance floor, I think… I always grab a powder to throw into my bag to banish any mid-evening shine, and then lipstick for reapplications post-food and pre-drinks.
