A Springtime Makeup Shakeup

A Springtime Makeup Shakeup

Post written in collaboration with Fragrance Direct

After the long and chilly winter, I’m so excited to get ready for spring. I’m not quite ready to get rid of my scarves and coats so I’m enjoying A Springtime Makeup Shakeup. I’m talking creamy blush for lots of dewiness, fluttery lashes and then the bright lip of dreams. I’ve turned to Fragrance Direct to stock up my makeup bag for spring with so many gorgeous new additions; now all I need is some sunshine.

For me, spring beauty is definitely all about a clean and glowing base! I’ve spoken about my love for radiant primers so many times (you can see more here), and I’m really excited to have finally tried the much-hyped Fenty foundation. This definitely created a lot of attention in the beauty world with over 40 shades; lots of brands are now struggling to keep up with Fenty. This is definitely a full coverage affair, and it leaves a really smooth and flawless finish on the skin. It’s described as a matte finish, but it’s a moveable and modern matte finish – not cakey (when applied with a beauty blender) but it’s worth noting that a little goes a long way.

For under the eyes, I’ve rediscovered an old favourite; the Rimmel wake me up concealer is an absolute bargain. It’s wonderful for masking shadows and for helping to fake a good night’s sleep. It’s a great one to use if your under eyes are dry, because the formula is nicely hydrating and it doesn’t settle particularly into any fine lines.

For cheeks, I’ve found the Calvin Klein blush duo in breath – it has a dewy cream formula on one half and then powder on the other. So clever. The packaging’s lid also swivels around, and just feels really swish. The cream side reminds me of the Stila convertible colour formula, which is one of my favourites. I especially love cream formulas in spring, because they add this nice dimension and sheen to the skin which feels really fresh.

I’m onto a new mascara for fluttery lashes – the L’oreal false lash wings mascara, which is just amazing for a wide-eyed look. I like this for adding lots of length to the eyes but it’s not a lot for volume or adding drama to the eyes. Along with the mascara I wore a champagne shimmer on the lid (this one from Marc Jacobs).

Lastly we have the Nars audacious lipstick in Grace. I mean it’s the perfect spring shade. So bright and so beautiful. It’s a warm-toned pinky-red coral that just instantly brightens up your whole complexion! It’s definitely one to reach for if you want to perk things up and have everything look a lot more awake in a flash. Oh, and the formula is lovely. Pigmented, creamy  & long-lasting, it’s one to try for any lipstick lovers out there.
