The Tarte Shape Tape concealer is one of the most hyped beauty products ever. It’s been hard to get hold of, but I finally did and I hate to say it… it’s an amazing concealer. It’s super pigmented, it’s super brightening and it’s super long-lasting. I have dry under eyes so concealers can sometimes make me look more tired, but shape tape is the one to try.
So what makes it so good?
It’s highly, highly pigmented. You need a tiny amount to cover dark circles under both eyes. The wand on the concealer is huge so you definitely have to stop yourself from going overboard because this concealer is full coverage. It blends nicely, and does not need to be set with a powder. Leave it alone! Let it do its own thing, because it sits beautifully on the skin without anything else. I just blend it in quickly with a beauty blender afterwards – I’ve tried the sponge it comes with and it’s OK… I like the formula on the skin – it looks natural (not dewy or matte) and it sits nicely on the skin. Anything that survives my watery eyes and doesn’t accentuate fine lines is always a winner.
I’ve got the palest shade, Fair, and it definitely really lightens the under eyes. I’m wearing it is in this photo. If I go too heavy-handed with it, it can make me look a little intense so I could probably go with going a shade down. I don’t get enough sleep, so the super brightening effect doesn’t annoy me. It’s good to know that this concealer would work really well on very light skin tones too.
What’s bad about it?
It’s so hard to get hold of in the UK! Why are the best beauty products always so elusive? Tarte, Glossier, Drunk Elephant… to name a few. I grabbed this one from QVC (Tarte is easy to grab in the UK via QVC – this palette is also worth getting…) but this concealer was always out of stock. Blame the hype, because I waited for a while for this to come back in stock. When it did come back in stock, I grabbed it as fast as possible. It does only come with the blending sponge, which is annoying as well because I am loyal to my beauty blender!
