How many times can I use Autumn as a starting point for a blog post? The limit does not exist. Certainly not when it comes to all things perfume. My beauty obsession! I think a perfume with a slightly spicier or woodier twist is just perfect for this time of year, which brings me onto my quarterly perfume edit…
First up is Bronnley Exotic Embers; the perfect pick if you like perfumes with a slightly spicy twist. This one is different to other scents in my (rather extensive) perfume collection, due to its inclusion of ginger. Ginger is the best. It reminds me of an Origins body cream I used to have, and it’s just perfectly hot and spicy but so so wearable. Exotic Embers is also different because it’s relatively light to wear; not by any means something light and airy but as it’s an EDT it doesn’t sit too heavily on the skin. One to look at if you’re craving something warm and Autumnal but don’t want anything too heavy or strong.
One of my favourite finds from Diptyque is the oh-so addictive L’Ombre Dans L’Eau. Inspired by the unusual combination of blackcurrants berries and roses, it’s one of Diptyque’s best perfumes. It’s a floral and fruity scent that manages to brighten up my morning every time. It opens with rose and has all of the richness and the sweetness from the floral. Then it has a sharper twist of blackberry to keep it from being too sweet; the acidity in it gets softer as time goes on, but it remains green and fresh. This reminds me of walks in the rain, which is quintessentially Autumnal to me!
Finally is one from my absolute new perfume crush; Atelier Bloom. A new brand made by the Malin + Goetz co-founders, it’s an entire line based around the Netherlands. Amazing, right? I absolutely love Amsterdam, and perfume so this is like a dream come true. The entire line is a minimalist’s dream packaging, with clean bottles and chic white labels. This one, Half Moon, is gorgeous. Inspired by the mood of a night-time walk with the light of a half moon (sounds like a film), it’s green and woody and warm. It has lots of Jasmine, which gives it a wonderfully soft and vibrant touch. The best bit is the base of amber and musk, which makes it so rich. Definitely one for cold evenings, with the scent lingering on a scarf.
