Things are getting lighter. It’s not pitch black at 5pm anymore. It was actually sunny last week. I went out in just a cardigan. Spring is on its way. To complement the season switch up, I’ve been embracing A Glossy Makeup Look; clean skin, lots of highlighter and glossy lids and lips. I’ve even tried to be a little bit stylish and have taken some inspiration for a glossy look from fashion week…
A good glossy makeup look definitely starts off with shiny skin. Sheen in all the right places is the look I’m going for, here. I used the Marc Jacobs dew drops coconut gel highlighter all over the face for some intense light & luminosity. It’s intense and sheeny, so a little goes a long way with this one! It’s a golden-peach toned shade, so it adds this lovely warmth to the skin as well. Underneath any foundation, it just adds like smooth glossiness to your skin. On top of foundation, glossy skin clearly means plenty of highlighter too! I have so many favourites that I cycle through but lately I’ve been obsessed with the Tilbury wand that I mentioned here because it really melts into the skin and it reflects the light so nicely.
I got inspired for this glossy look after seeing the Zelens photos of the makeup backstage from LFW. So, it seems only fitting to have used a Zelens product to achieve the look! At the show they used a peachy shade on the lids and then massaged the lip treatment oil into the lids. I wore this look two days in a row when out & about, and found that my eye makeup didn’t smudge or move about. I used the Burberry shadow in pale barley all over the lid as a base for a nude makeup look. Using a clear gloss is an easy to way to try out a makeup look without committing to buying a dedicated eye gloss, too. Multi-tasking products at its finest.
Finishing off, I used the Glossier gloss all over the lips. Easy! I layered it over the Zelens nude lipstick for a more subtle effect than pink lips. The gloss is good if you like gloss! I’m not the biggest fan of sticky lips but this one is a really good pick for a high-shine finish without feeling as though your lips have been covered in honey.
