There are skincare steps that are essential (removing makeup, applying SPF) and then there are steps that are additional luxuries. A face mist would probably be categorised under an additional luxury, but I would argue that the extra step makes such a difference to the skin that they are not to be ignored. Hydrating, skin-softening and just generally lovely, I have tried a few Fantastic Face Mists that must be shared…
Hyaluronic acid heaven – BYBI Mega Mist
BYBI has quickly become one of the most exciting brands on my radar – it feels so new & fresh. The packaging is everything my basic beauty-obsessed self wants, and there is an interesting line of products. This little mist is lovely; rose, orange blossom & lemon water mixed together makes a mouthwatering medley.
I’ve been using this mist as an easy morning toner (more here) – a few spritzes post cleanse takes a few seconds. It’s beautifully light on the skin, and I imagine this would work a treat on any skin type. Hydrating, but not heavy. It’s so hydrating because it’s full of hyaluronic acid; the ingredient famous for its ability to hold 1000 times its weight in moisture.
Rose tinted – Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
Jurlique is known for their delicious mists, with one bottle of their rosewater balancing mist being sold every two minutes. That’s a lot of mists. I’d say if you’re remaining unconvinced on the benefits of a facial mist, then this is going to be the one that will sway you. Aside from smelling delicious, it hydrates, soothes and nourishes the skin with just a few spritzes. As well as rose gallica extract it has marshmallow which is really hydrating; aloe vera hydrates and soothes any irritation.
They’re soon to be launching this year’s edition of the rosewater balancing mist intense (in May), and the bottle is as beautiful as ever. It’s hefty (not handbag friendly for sure) and comes in a beautiful pink bottle. It was practically made for my Instagram. This is going to live exclusively on my desk for when my skin is in need of a revival.
A Liquid Moisturiser – Omorovicza Magic Moisture Mist
Omorovicza knows their mists really well… The iconic queen of Hungary is another one my absolute favourites (mentioned here) but they have recently launched a brand new, souped up mist. Almost a new skincare category on its own. More hydrating than just a toner, it’s a two-phase formula that nourishes the skin far more intensely. It needs to be vigorously shaken before use (and it separates back very quickly).
As expected, it’s pretty pricey. Omorovicza is a serious skincare brand, with luxury products and formulations. This is packed with ingredients… Wheat germ oil, macadamia nut oil, rosehip oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil and lots of essential oils. As it’s so intensely moisturising I would think this is going to be reserved for dry skin only. With so many oils, it would be a little heavy unless your skin is particularly parched.
