Not to jinx it, but summer is sort of here. I mean, I’ve worn dresses without tights multiple times. In public. It’s warm, and whilst I am not here for bikini-ready bullshit being forced upon us, I am always here for beauty products making me feel like a summer gal. So, we’re going through the best Body Care For Summer to leave skin silky-soft.
Surely the cornerstone of any sort of body care routine is a good scrub. Perfect for making skin feel soft, smoothing and for getting rid of any remnants of fake tan, a scrub is the go-to. This Body Smooth from Tropic is particularly great (and the first product the founder of Tropic, Susie, ever made) at being the right mix of scrubby and hydrating. Made up of sea salt and essential oils (lemon myrtle) means it smells super citrus and fresh. Just a handful of it used in the shower once or twice a week means that skin looks its best and feels great, too. It works best massaged into the dry skin before rinsing off with water; the oils in the formula stay on the skin afterwards to condition the skin.
A body serum
So at this point a lot of us are using AHAs in our skincare – alpha hydroxy acid is an ingredient that helps to slough away old skin, used in products to exfoliate. REN has recently launched their their smart renewal body serum which has all of the exfoliating goodness but in a body cream. Plus, it smells like zesty oranges! It’s packed full of lactic acid which works to refine the skin’s tone as well as xylitol to boost hydration and probiotics to strengthen the natural barrier of the skin. This is fabulous for anyone suffering from bumpy skin on their arms (keratosis pilaris aka chicken skin is a real problem, people!) because it hydrates like a regular body cream but it has all of the added skincare benefits.
Last but not least is the super glamorously named sol janeiro samba foot fetish cream. Yup, catchy. From the makers of the infamous bum bum cream, this cream is pretty much all you need to have sandal-ready feet in a flash. It comes with a surf-board to exfoliate the skin and then this cream is designed to be used afterwards. I know foot care isn’t the most exciting of topics, but the brand has designed it to mimic the culture of Brazil where heels and sandals are shown as often as possible. I’m taking to slather this on a few times a week and I’ve noticed a big difference. Plus, the formula isn’t greasy in the slightest so you don’t end up sliding all over the place and it smells like the bum bum cream.
