Call it a combination of getting older and also a mix of being lazy now I work from home, but my makeup has been super minimal lately. It’s perfectly times as it’s getting a little warmer and so having less on my face just seems like a good idea. Right now I keep going back to this Seven Step Summer Makeup, which is easy, quick & glowing.
All about that base
Starting off with the base because I am all about keeping things light right now. I’ve also very recently been trying out some new tanning drops, which definitely contributed to the glow over the last couple of days. I will report back once I’ve tested more… For now, I will talk about the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation, which is just the best light-coverage base around. It manages to make skin look a lot smoother and more radiant, without covering up any of the skin’s natural radiance or freckles. Yup, Meghan Markle’s freckles are on trend. The base also works really well when mixed in with something illuminating for extra added glow. Then the Glossier stretch concealer perfectly complements the lighter base – it’s got a beautiful texture that won’t settle into any fine lines under the eyes. It’s creamy, light and comfortable to wear; nothing heavy for masking under the eyes, but great for quickly dabbing under the eyes to banish any dark circles.
For the next steps of the base, the new and gorgeous Kiko bronzer is especially beautiful! It’s from their new jelly jungle collection and my first thoughts on it are that it’s a great summer bronzer – matte so not too disco-ball but it adds a nice warmth to the complexion. Also the pink neon clear packaging is giving me 80s Miami vibes, which I am very much into. The brand has also launched a new liquid-to-powder highlighter in easy summer shades; dabbing the formula onto the cheekbones is my favourite finishing step for this easy Seven Step Summer Makeup.
Eyes on the prize
For eyes, it has to be easy. I know I’m not alone in suffering from terrible hay fever this year, and my eyes are pretty much not putting up with anything too fussy. A slick of the Marc Jacobs cream shadow in Volver is as old-standing favourite that I still love and use all the time. The perfect champagne shade all over the lid, and the cream formula means it’s so easy to just scribble over the lid and then leave it to set. For lashes, a coat of the Glossier lash slick mascara is perfect. I mentioned it in more depth here, but I am loving it as a smudge-proof mascara for everyday wear.
Go for gold
Lastly for lips, I have been loving this little pencil from Axiology. It’s a new brand to me, but the vegan & natural brand is definitely an exciting one, and one to watch! So often ‘natural beauty’ can conjure up images of boring and drab cosmetics but this gold packaging on the lip crayon manages to merge cruelty-free natural beauty with chic elegance. Clever! I like. This shade, ‘bliss’, is a salmon pink that leans peachy and warm on the complexion. It’s super easy to throw on and wear effortlessly (although a little drying), and just screams laid-back summer to me.
