OK so it’s so hot that wearing makeup is pretty low on my priority list right now. I just want to sit in front of the fan. When I do wear makeup, I am running through the same things over and over. Basically I want things to be as minimal as possible. A sort of glossier girl level of low-key makeup; July’s Makeup Bag is full of neutrals (no surprises there). See also lots if highlighter, plenty of concealer and a few lipstick options. I’m definitely less adventurous with makeup risks than I was a few years ago but I’ve found what I like. What I like happens to be lots of glow and skin that looks like glass. Ideally using as many products as possible to look as natural as I can. Obviously…
DHC Perfect Pro Mascara & Blink Brow Bar Ultra Slim Brow Definer
I mentioned this beauty in this post and I’m still using it daily. It’s perfect for when it’s hot and sweaty because it does not smudge. Magic. No, it comes off easily with warm water at the end of the day, but doesn’t go anywhere before that. I also love the teeny tiny brush because it doesn’t get all over the lid and makes it easy to coat every little lash. For brows, the Blink Brow Bar London ultra slim brow definer is my new go-to because the nib is teeny tiny. It makes it ridiculously easy to naturally enhance the brows and to mimic brow-like hair strokes. Plenty of good shades for all hair colours.
Jillian Dempsey Cheek Tint & Tilbury Beauty Light Wand
Imagine having a natural glow. Now you don’t need to, because this duo is making my skin look all illuminated but still super natural. A little bit like glass, which is my absolute skin goal. Almost as if it’s naturally me. I mentioned the cheek tints here and I am still equally obsessed. They’re so beautiful and look so subtle on the skin. Then, the liquid highlighter blends in easily using the warmth of finger tips and makes skin look all sheeny but not metallic.
Laura Mericer Flawless Fusion concealer
The concealer to banish dark circles! For when you’ve been staying up late and not sleeping because of the heat, obviously. Gel texture blends in nicely and doesn’t accentuate fine lines or dryness. There’s a whole host of different shades for a lot of skin tones, and this is definitely one of the best concealers I’ve tried. The matching foundation is equally fabulous.
Dior Lip Glow in Coral & Clarins Joli Rouge in 758
Lip wise, I’ve been switching between Dior and Clarins all month. The Dior Lip Glow is one of my favourite ever formulas, and the coral shade is particularly great for the warmer months. Sheer and so so easy to wear. The new matte lipsticks from Clarins are equally easy to wear, but packing a little more in terms of pigment. Not drying, either. This shade, 758, is great for an everyday nude that doesn’t wash you out. Great with a generous lashing of bronzer.
