If I had to use one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be lipstick. I love how transformative a swipe of your favourite shade can be, and the subsequent mood-boosting abilities that lipstick can possess. I’m also incredibly picky with lipsticks, as they have to be just right to warrant a place in my collection. So, this year’s obsession with all things natural beauty has led to me trying and testing some greener versions. Let me tell you, the grass is not always greener… Through perseverance, I have found a few Natural Lipsticks To Try.
It makes sense to switch to cleaner ingredients when you think about how much lipstick you end up eating over the years…
Expertly blurring the lines between organic and trend-led, Axiology is a gorgeous brand to check out. With packaging that rivals even my beloved Tilbury, everything looks gorgeous. Not only does it look good, but the brand are incredible at being utterly transparent with their claims and practices (surprisingly unusual for the beauty world). Bonus point as well for the packaging being made in a recycled paper set-up in Bali, taking old paper and card and turning into something reusable. With vegan and all-natural formulas my top pick would be Identity lipstick, which was inspired by Peony season. The formula is semi-sheer, comfortable to wear and has a nice lustrous finish to it.
If the thought of natural beauty conjures up some 60s throwback connotation, then I guarantee Ilia is the brand to change your mind. The brand was created from the founder being shocked at harmful ingredients present in lip balm; the entire range is proof that you don’t have to compromise on luxury to experience natural. I’m fairly new to discovering everything, but I’ve jumped head-first in and I’m obsessed already. This dreamy little shade is In My Room, which might just be the perfect pink for me. It’s pigmented, non-drying and just a pleasure to use.
Last, but by no means least, we have Inika. The world’s first certified organic & vegan range of lipsticks, this brand from Australia specialises in natural & organic. Their lipsticks are packed with (organic) jojoba, argan and avocado oil, and they have a nude shade to cater to any skin tone. I’m definitely eyeing up a few of the pink shades, as the texture has impressed me so much. The formula on this is one of the creamiest, and the shades are really pigmented and opaque on the lips. Naked Kiss is very much an English Rose affair, and this is definitely a nude you need for autumn.
