Beauty rituals. Little things make me feel better, more put togehter and slightly more groomed. Taking the time to indulge in Weekly Beauty Rituals is something I always manage to do. They bring a little structure and mean that, as someone who works primarily from home, I still take the time to try and make myself look presentable.
Washing Makeup Brushes
Washing makeup brushes is one of those tasks. You know the final result is worth the effort but it rarely gets done as often as it should. See also, hoovering and filing receipts. The thought of having a pot filled with clean brushes is just tempting enough to persuade me to clean my makeup brushes weekly. I’m like using the Dr Bronner liquid soap, because it lathers up well and rinses out well. Oh, and it’s natural so it’s fitting in with my current beauty obsession…
Do A Mask
I mean, I could do a face mask everyday and be fine with it but I tend to stick to Sunday and Wednesday. Sunday evenings are dedicated to face masks and watching horror movies, in my house. I tend to go for something that either hydrates or gives glow… Recent favourites include the Evolve radiance mask and the REN glycolic. On a daily basis, I try and find the time to give myself a mini facial massage (usually in the evening with my jade roller). Just in case a face mask wasn’t enough, I make sure to do a hair mask weekly as well, to tame the candy floss mop.

Hair Removal
Hair removal is definitely something I can’t be bothered thinking about every day. It’s too much effort (yup, even in summer) and I’m very lazy. Something I actually bother to do weekly is use my SmoothSkin IPL device to zap my legs. IPL is intense pulsed light, and it works at removing hair by sending a wavelength of light into the skin which targets the pigment of the hair. It doesn’t hurt at all, and makes such a difference to hair growth. It also only takes ten minutes to use it, on freshly shaved legs. Meaning, I can have minimal stubbly legs under my midi skirts.
Miscellaneous Beauty Upkeep
Anything else that requires extra effort always gets pushed back to a Sunday evening. Priorities, am I right? I would much rather binge watch another series on Netflix than spend time on beauty upkeep. Things like manicures, pedicures, exfoliating and tidying the mess that is my dressing table are always last on my list.
