It’s that time of year when lots of things are switching over. I’ve seen a shiny conker. I’ve contemplated putting the heating on 87 times. My coats are back in the wardrobe, ready to be worn. So, it’s only apt to have some Autumn Beauty Switches as well. I’m thinking lots more baths, hydrating skincare, heavier perfumes and a dark lip or two…
This post contains a collaboration with Cowshed
OK, it is cold. Brr. It is cold when I wake up now, and cold when I get out of the shower. I was not mentally prepared for the cold. To compensate, I’m making sure that I’m adding in lots of extra hydrating steps for skincare. Coldness equals dryness. There are loads of little ways to celebrate the new season, like adding a new face cream into the mix. Cowshed’s newly launched Wonder Balm is a great multi-tasker for use on the face, body and hair; the handbag sized pot also makes it great for throwing in your bag for any overnight trips. I’m also making sure to include lots of hydrating masks (I like Glossier, Evolve and Origins), oils (the more the merrier) and richer creams (like Fresh’s rose deep hydration face cream) in my daily skincare to combat any dryness. Check out all my other skincare posts here as well.
All The Lip Balm
Every single year as soon as it gets chillier, my lips get really dry and sore. Regardless of how much water I drink, I just err on the side of dehydration. It means I spend a lot of time with a lip balm within immediate reach, and spend a lot of time reapplying. It’s safe to say that, at this stage, I am a lip balm connoisseur; I’ve tried countless different formulas in the search of perfection. I am a big fan of this one from balmkind, which I featured in this post as one of the best. Now it’s had a glamorous little makeover with pretty new pink packaging. The formula is particularly great because it has loads of ingredients that actually hydrate like oat lipids which are especially soothing. There’s no mineral oil, parabens or petrolatum either.
Vampy Lip Sticks
It is the season of vampier lipstick. Yup. It’s time. As a self-confessed lover of nude lipsticks, I’m looking forward to adding in some berry tones to my makeup bag. Starting with this Makeup Forever Lip Blush in velvet rosewood, which is definitely going to be my go-to for autumn. It’s the absolute perfect berry shade as well as the formula being a dream. I love lip crayons for their ease of use – scribble and go – and this texture is akin to a blusher in that it coats the lips in a diffused wash of colour. Autumn is also the best time to wear loads more glitter, darker smokey eyes and basically ramp it up when it comes to makeup.
