This year’s exploration has been all about whether a natural beauty routine is sustainable. I’ve written about haircare, skincare and more in the natural beauty section here so next on the list is perfume. Can a perfume smell good and still have none of the nasties? Enter Walden A Little Star-Dust and their line of natural perfumes. Named after Thoreau’s work, the brand focuses on hand-making the fragrances using natural ingredients.

Top Notes: Iris, Coffee
Heart Notes: Jasmine, Ylang Ylang
Base Notes: Amyris, Labdanum, Tonka Bean Vanilla
What Does It Smell Like?
This is a super-creamy floral that has a lot of warmth to it. The first spritz smells almost overpoweringly of jasmine and ylang ylang but within five minutes this settles down a lot. When I first smelt it I definitely thought the first five minutes were too strong for me, but I’m glad I perserveered. Once on the skin it warms up and the whole thing becomes a lot softer, leading way for the amyris and vanilla. It’s super feminine and soft without being too strong – easily wearable day or night. The longevity, considering it’s a natural formula, is really impressive. I can still smell it on the skin around six hours later; the creaminess lingers nicely.
What’s It Similar To?
This is pretty unique in its creaminess, and the fact that it’s made from natural ingredients really sets it apart from other scents on the market. If you like sweet scents with vanilla like… Guerlain mon Guerlain, Diptyque Eau Delle or Mugler Angel then I think you’ll like the notes in this. Essentially, it’s soft and creamy without being overtly floral so I imagine this would be a bit of a crowd-pleaser. I’m particularly looking forward to wearing this more in autumn with scarves as it’s such a cosy scent.
