October’s Makeup Selection

Being a beauty blogger means that you tend to accumulate a lot of makeup. Yup, it’s not exactly a hardship but it can be a little overwhelming sometimes. I spoke about mulling over spending on beauty more here and I’m making a conscious decision to try and focus on using more products up. This is October’s Makeup Selection; I organised everything into some muji drawers and so is going to be the makeup I’m using throughout the month.

Eyes on the prize

October is going to be all about the new Tilbury palette – I’ve used it a good handful of times so far and loved it. It’s expensive, yeah, but Tilbury shadows do have an excellent formulation and longevity. This pretty much covers all situations as well, so lots of looks are there to play around with. Brows, I am boring and stick to my Browgal pencil and Glossier brow gel. In Germany I grabbed this essence mascara – I’d seen it all over reddit, and it was only €3, so I had to. It’s nice and ligh for length, without any clumps.

Drop The Base

The aim is to keep it relatively simple and minimalistic with four products to do my base on the daily. I love the Tilbury youth glow as a quick and easy primer because it adds glow and colour-corrects in one fast swoop. It’s not drastic in terms of glow or correction, but that makes it a great go-to. I’m also testing out the Jane Iredale BB cream, which seems to have really decent coverage for a light formulation. The brand focuses on really natural ingredients (I mentioned the lipsticks here) and the products nicely blend high-glam with friendlier ingredients. Then I’m working my way through the Laura Mercier fusion concealer and their loose powder – both are really, really nice and I would recommend.

Feeling Cheeky

Let me introduce you to my cheek trio of the moment… It’s a dash of the Bobbi Brown bronzer, a dab of the Tilbury pillow talk blusher and then loads and loads of MAC soft & gentle highlighter on the cheekbones using a fan brush. Super easy, super soft & flattering. It’s definitely not a groundbreaking combination, but great for no-fuss, no-thought makeup.

Skincare Selection

Skincare is my favourite. It’s something I can happily talk about all day, and also something I like to mix and match a lot on the daily. Like a kid in a candy store, because I get so excited to try new products and test things out. Case in point, I’m waiting on a delivery of Drunk Elephant which I want to try exclusively for a good couple of weeks. So, I’m not going to be just using these products but here is the edit I have been focusing on every morning. There’s… Fresh’s rose moisturiser, Gallinée serum, Jurlique SPF, Pai eye cream, Ra face oil and Tropic lip balm.
