Veganism is quite the hot topic right now, thanks in part to Gregg’s and their vegan sausage roll (and ridiculous outrage from members of the media whom I will not give further attention to!). It’s veganuary, and now as ever seems as good a time to delve a little deeper into our makeup bags to find some new vegan beauty products. Excellent formulas and interesting products without any animal cruelty – what’s not to love?
Vegan beauty is for life, not just for Veganuary…
It wouldn’t be a blog post by me without inclusion of a good lipstick, would it? Axiology makes some of the nicest natural lipsticks around, and their formulas are all vegan. Hard to do in lipstick, as carmine (made from bugs!) as an ingredient is such a popular inclusion. The whole brand is committed to promoting animal-friendly actions as well. Love love love.
It’s surprisingly tricky to find a natural foundation that can compete with ones found on the highstreet… the inclusion of oils can often lead to things becoming a little bit greasy. I’m happy to report that Ere Perez’s Oat Milk Foundation bucks the trend, with the cream texture delivering good coverage and a skin-like finish. The only downsides would be that perhaps the longevity is not quite as hardy as some I’ve tried but it’s a lovely, comfortable foundation to wear.
A new brand on my radar, Jecca is gender-neutral and born out of a lack of makeup available for transgender women. Easily used and perfect for experimenting with, the Correct & Conceal palette comes with two creamy shades that help to mask dark circles and sculpt the skin. I love that the brand is positioning itself for absolutely anyone – hopefully they will bring out some darker shades this year as I can only see light & medium at the moment.
Another natural brand? I know, there are just too many good discoveries to be found at the moment! Swiss brand Nazan Schnapp uses all natural-based ingredients to make a wide range of skincare. Lots of their products contain crystal extracts – combining beauty & wellness is just going to get bigger in 2019, I’m sure of it. The Lightweight Treatment oil smells divine and leaves skin silky soft… and it’s vegan!
Pai | Skin & Tonic
I’ll keep my raves about both of these brands on the short side, because I’ve mentioned both countless times before. I am a big fan of both! Both are British brands that make reasonably streamlined edits of products; Pai specialises in sensitive skin formulations whereas Skin & Tonic is such a beautiful natural-based brand. Two particular favourites at this moment in time would be the Pai Echium & Argan Gentle Eye Cream for soothing and hydrating the gentle skin around the eyes. Perfect under concealer. The Skin & Tonic Rose Lip Balm is my current go-to. The small size makes it ideal for popping into a coat pocket.
